Bio
Sanjay S. Kamlani is a co-founding partner of FairPlay Law. He has spent more than 30 years building businesses where law, technology, and global operations meet, and he brings to the firm both that operating experience and a career of employment and business matters handled on behalf major corporations and private equity backed businesses.
For the past eight years, Sanjay has served as a strategic innovation advisor to Holland & Knight, an AmLaw 50 firm, where he has developed close insight into large-firm operations, best practices, and the implementation of AI and other technology. He is also the founder of the legal-technology venture studio, Maker5.
Sanjay is the Co-Founder and former Co-CEO of Pangea3, a Sequoia Capital portfolio company acquired by Thomson Reuters in 2010. Pangea3 was recognized by as the pioneer and leader in legal-process outsourcing (LPO) worldwide, with more than 1,500 lawyers and engineers across the United States and India delivering legal solutions to Fortune 1000 companies and their law firms.
Earlier, he was a founding management-team member and served as the General Counsel and CFO of OfficeTiger, the Francisco Partners-backed pioneer of offshore professional-support services, acquired by R.R. Donnelley in 2006.
Sanjay began his career as a lawyer at PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York, where he led the firm’s India Business Network, advising U.S. multinationals on cross-border structures, acquisitions, and operations.
Across those companies and firms, Sanjay has handled employment-dispute matters involving professionals and executives and led global talent structuring and mobility for multinational companies including Cognizant and AT&T.
Sanjay speaks and is quoted widely on entrepreneurship, cross-border business management, and legal-process innovation, and has been featured in outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Inc., CNBC, and the ABA Journal. The American Lawyer named him a Top 50 Innovator in Big Law of the Last 50 Years, The ABA Journal featured him in its 100 Years of Law and the National Law Journal recognized him in its inaugural 50 Business of Law Trailblazers & Pioneers.
